In 2018, a “blue wave” hit congress that allowed the democratic party to take back the House of Representatives with a string of new face rising-star politicians. The four fresh-faced politicians that received more visibility because their perceived progressive politics automatically received push-back from the party’s gatekeepers were Rashida Talib, Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar, and Alexandria Ocasio- Cortez.
